My partner doesn't like my cooking!?

Honestly, I can't cook. Never tried and never cared about food enough to be unhappy with a quick insant meal or something from a can or bought frozen. My fiance is usually the same way and does almost all of the food preparation around here (we've been living together for a few years) he does cook real meals sometimes though. Something I've never done. Today we were joking around making fun of my household skills as we often do and he tells me that he's going to buy me a cookbook and some cooking lessons. I laughed, but I think he really expects this! Can I just burn everything, so I don't have to bother with wasting my time in the kitchen? I'm happy with my marcoroni and cheese and soup from a can! Why can't he be?
