Spiritually speaking is religious discrimination worse where you live?

I live on the east coast, it sounds really bad in the central/bible belt areas. It's not too bad on the east coast but it's there. It's very subtle but you can't be very open about it and if you are you are a weird person, you do face bigotry but subtly... It's worse than gay discrimination. Most people would be glad and proud of coming out, with atheists being very proud/open is always frowned upon.
