What would be a good field for Scarlett to work in?
There's really no such thing as lazy. Lazy is a word that is applied to people who don't do what somebody else wants. (Lazy students, lazy employees, lazy slaves.) Resenting the hell out of authority is a clue to what is causing her alleged laziness. What she needs to do is to find a pion for something. As soon as she finds something she cares about she will pour her energy and intelligence into it. All those authority figures she resents will either disappear or become valued mentors and colleagues. It almost doesn't matter what she does. It could be a political cause, a scientific challenge, an art, a sport. It will probably be a field outside of all of the studies she has had imposed on her. There was a young man who went to college and worked at a variety of prestigious jobs before he discovered a pion for building wooden boats. A woman who had studied chemistry with the intention of bcoming a scientist took up pottery and eventually turned out museum quality works of art. In the movie, Lorenzo's Oil a man who worked for the World Bank and had no medical training turned his attention to finding a cure for his son's terminal illness and eventually developed a treatment that saved thousands of lives. When Scarlett starts looking outside of herself and finds something to care about she will find her calling.
