Why would a woman in her 50's want to go talk to a gal that was 40?

My friend was visiting her boyfriend this past 4th of July. What happened I can see high school girls doing or college not a gal who is 55? This gal called and was suppose to be broke up from the man she called. My friend said next thing she knew her boyfriend said to the 55" Do whatever you think you need to do". He then begged my friend to leave with him for icecream for this V. woman was going to come over there to talk to her! My friend argued to stay she had nothing to fear, to hear what this woman had to say and to get it out in the open, why do you keep calling my boyfriend when you both are suppose to be broke up??? Nothing came of it and they left , never a show, But now that the new year has come she is looking back wanting to make sure she wants to cont.and its bugged her. Why would a 55 yr old woman want to talk to a gal younger than her, that she never met and we are sure its about this man. Most gals who are older would not do this. poss to warn her?
